“A HEALTHY CHILD IS A HAPPY ONE”
The nature of children naturally exudes happiness. The most genuine laughter, easiest smile, simplicity are children’s mannerisms. Unlike adults, happiness is a lifestyle. Children are barely concerned about things that take their minds off its state of rest and ease.
Despite the natural carefree nature of a child, there are some vices that may combat or short-circuit their happiness; one of which is sickness. An unhealthy child isn’t a happy child. Health is one of the determinant factors of a more joyful life regardless of age.
Good Health is one of the most treasured assets in life. There are quite a number of diseases that affect children at different stages of their lives which could be cured differently. However, today, our focus is on COVID-19, the current global pandemic pummelling the world.
Some people may ask or say;
* Why covid-19?
* Is there anyone who doesn’t know what this virus is?
* I bet every human may have a grasp of what this virus is.
It is a no-brainer that the world has taken a beating. since the pandemic struck. No life has remained the same. It is also agreeable that not everyone is properly informed about the true meaning, causes and effects of this pandemic. Some people are living in the oblivionof the ideology that they understand what this virus is, especially those in rural areas where development is still crawling. Some people still think it’s the governments way of looting funds. Some think it’s a faux, others think that their melanin skin is anti-covid. I have stumbled upon some comic videos of aged people sharpening their tools, getting ready in battle to fight-off the virus. Some even innocently and ignorantly tagged the virus as ‘white man’s disease’.
Sadly, the first time some people heard about this virus was from their neighbours who barely know how to pronounce the name of the virus or from whispers with myopic understanding. It has been called several names including “corodia vilust”, “colonia verruse”, “Theophilus” etc. If a parent could make such grave mistake, what will be the fate of its offspring? Will ignorance exempt them from contacting the virus? Does this virus hover around big cities and exclude uninformed communities? What is at stake for children who walk around barefooted thinking only of what and who to play with? What significant difference is covid-19 on out-of-school children? Everyday is obviously a holiday!
It is important that everyone is adequately informed. One man’s ignorance could cost the lives of others. Let’s not assume that everyone knows. Keep talking, keep explaining, keep eradicating unawareness from one person at a time. This is a two-sided favour for you and for the informed. Lessen the spread of this virus. A healthy child is a happy child!
